Understanding Your Healthy Living Score
Your healthy living score is an assessment of how healthily you have been living in the past 3 months.
Your baseline score is calculated from the initial lifestyle questionnaire you filled out. It is then updated every week after you fill in your weekly declaration. This weekly updated score is available to everyone who has undergone the Light Programme’s annual screening process, but is particularly useful for those who go on to participate in one of our 12-week health improvement programmes.
The aim of a health improvement programme should be to make enough positive changes so that you push your physical, functional and mental scores beyond their baseline levels. In this way you are highly likely to get better results when you retake the screening process at the end of 12-weeks.
The factors taken into account when assessing your healthy living score are:
Physical How much exercise you undertook in the past week How much stretching you did How active you were in your daily life How much time you spent sitting at a desk or a computer How much time you spent watching TV or playing computer games How much time you spent outdoors Whether you experienced any aches or pains How much relaxation you were able to include in your week
Functional Your current weight Whether you’ve smoked in the past week Whether you’ve drank alcohol How much fruit and vegetables you’ve eaten How many refined carbohydrates you’ve eaten How much fast food you’ve eaten How many desserts and sweets you’ve eaten How much tea and coffee you’ve drank How much water you‘ve drunk Whether you’ve had any symptoms of illness Whether you’ve had any digestive problems
Mental How busy you were in the past week What work or home pressures you had How well you coped with the pressures of the week Whether you had any emotional issues to deal with Whether you became frustrated by factors outside of your control How much you were affected by external news events Whether you are carrying any worries or anxiousness over to the next week Whether you experienced any signs of stress How many destressing activities you undertook How many people you positively connected with in the week How many positive contributions you made to other people’s lives
